COUNTERFEIT MONEY
Counterfeit bills have been passed in Castroville, Monterey and Salinas!
The dominations passed are $100's & $20.00's. The copies appear to have been made by a color copier and are not of the best quality. A lot of business rely on the counterfeit pens; please remember that the pens have been know to give a false reading and the best solution is to know your money! The texture, holding the bill up and looking for the domination amount written on the bill, knowing the presidents and looking for the additional faces when you hold the bill up are some of best ways to see if the bill is a counterfeit.

If You Receive a Counterfeit
Most important do not put yourself in a situation where you feel uncomfortable. The police know how to handle these situations let them do their job, Provide them with any information that could help but do not be a hero.
• Do not return it to the passer.
• Delay the passer if possible.
• Observe the passer's description, as well as that of any companions, and the license plate numbers of any vehicles used.
• Contact your local police department or United States Secret Service field office. These numbers can be found on the inside front page of your local telephone directory.
• Write your initials and the date in the white border areas of the suspect note.
• Limit the handling of the note. Carefully place it in a protective covering, such as an envelope.
• Surrender the note or coin only to a properly identified police officer or a U.S. Secret Service special agent.
