Marina Hosts Bronco League World Series Teams
PONY International and Monterey PONY Baseball/Softball, Inc. will be welcoming several teams to the 2009 PONY Baseball Bronco League World Series, to the City of Marina and to Monterey, California. The City of Marina has been the logging host for several years. Currently the plan is to host a welcoming reception to all these teams the first week of August. We will offer assistance in transportation and we will open our recreation centers to help with down time to these children. Hosting these international teams takes a lot of time and coordination. There is still time to sponsor a team. Please contact Rose Ramos at 647-3858or 594-3731. Time is running out.
This will be the seventeenth consecutive year that Monterey PONY Baseball/Softball, Inc. has hosted the PONY Baseball Bronco League World Series. The City of Marina and it’s community members are honored to be part of providing a World Class Service from a World Class City to a World Class Event.
Coordination is the key to pulling off hosting this many people. Consider there are 10 teams with 14 team members then add coaches, and chaperones. There are volunteer coordinators for the practice fields, community center, restaurant and food, city transportation, reception, welcome packet, and sponsorships. The city, as well, provides water and healthy snacks at each practice location as needed. Each Zone team has their own personal contact. These volunteer contacts responsibilities are to meet and greet the team upon arrival at hotel and present the team manager with the Welcome Packet from the City of Marina. They are to be the contact for the team manager. During their stay the two youth, recreation facilities are available for the youth teams for constructive down time daily from 6-9 PM. Each of these facilities has available: Video Game Systems, Pool Tables, Foose Ball, Computers, Board Games, Gym (Youth Center Only), and Outside Recreation Facilities. Light snacks and drinks are provided during their visit. Two vans are made available to support practices, recreation and meal needs during their stay. Each team will receive a city proclamation that will be personally presented by the Mayor at the team reception hosted by the city. In addition a formal proclamation will be presented to the Bronco World Series Organization as part of the Marina City council meeting.
