GRAFFITI SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR FELONY VANDALISM
On 6/15/09, about 10:30 AM, the Marina Police Department was dispatched to multiple reports of graffiti around the City. The vandalisms consisted of graffiti type writing spray painted in green on numerous walls and other objects. In all fourteen (14) separate acts of vandalism were reported and all occurred during the night of June 14, 2009 in the areas of Reservation Road, Del Monte Boulevard, Carmel Avenue, De Forest Avenue and Hillcrest Avenue.
Subsequent investigation by the responding officer and investigators led to the discovery of video surveillance footage of the suspect as he was spray painting in the area of one of the vandalisms. The subject in the video was identified by officers as Christopher Reign Hernandez, age 24, of Marina.
Hernandez was contacted by officers on 6/16/09 and found to be wearing the same clothing he had been wearing at the time he was captured on video, which was stained with green paint.
Hernandez was also found to be in possession of drawings similar to the graffiti found at the vandalism scenes. Hernandez was taken into custody and booked into Monterey County Jail for felony vandalism.
